If you are applying for a K1 Visa you would need certain documents to prove not only that you are an American but also to prove that you are able to support your fiancee in the United States. The documents needed for most K-1 Visa applications are listed below. These are not a full list of documents and you might require additional documents so always speak to an immigration attorney with regards to any documents you may need for your K-1 Visa application. To prove that you are an American citizen you need to provide the following:
1. Your birth certificate
You will also require the follwing for the K-1 Visa application:
- Affidavit of Support (Form I-134/I-864);
- Financial statements;
- One color photo of you and your spouse (make sure you meet all the USCIS requirements);
- Completed and singed Forms G-325A for you and your Faincee;
- Passports
- Divorce decrees (if applicable)
- If you or your Faincee are using a name other than on the relevant document, you must submit any documents showing your legal name change (such as: marriage certificate, adoption decree or court order).
